Recreation and entertainment

In keeping with the superb climate of The Gambia, the hotel offers a wealth of activities and recreational facilities as well as an independently operated Spa and Wellness Centre to rewind the senses and re discover a new you.

Swimming pool

The hotel has a fabulous open terraced swimming pool, with an integrated children's section.

The Golden Hands Spa and Wellness Centre

Privately owned and operated by Golden Hands, the Spa has separate massage and treatment rooms as well as pranic healing, food therapy, manicure, pedicure and facials, etc

Gym

A small gym area is stylishly fitted out with a separate aerobics studio..

Children’s facilities

For our young guests from 4 to 12 years of age there is a safe playing area close by the pool and integrated swimming area. For smaller children under 4, baby-sitting services is available on request.

Craft market located by our Casa Fernando and also around the pool on alternate days

Observatory

The Kairaba Hotel has the only observatory in West Africa. Open every Thursday and Saturday evening (weather permitting). For reservations and operating hours, please contact our reception or Guest Service Desk.

Management cocktail

During the winter only on Mondays between 18.00 and 19.00 hours guests get to mingle and relate with management over a cocktail. Enjoy a drink and a canapé in the lush tropical gardens.

Sports activities

In addition to quieter forms of recreation, like darts, croquet, french boules or giant-sized chess board, we have facilities for the more active guests, with table tennis, pool, table football with a tennis court available at the neighbouring hotel.

Daily activities

We offer a wide variety of activities every day from noon onwards. Check the board by the pool to see what is available daily.

Bird watching

Every day is a good day for bird watching, but why not let our resident bird watcher, Aladdin, take you on a grand tour (every Wednesday and Saturday from 17.00 hours). Meeting point is the croquet lawn. A leaflet showing the rich variety of bird life to be discovered at the Kairaba gardens can be purchased at the reception desk.

Teatime

Come along and enjoy our indulgent high tea, served daily on the Kingfisher terrace, exclusively for all our hotel guests between 16.00 and 17.00 hours (winter season only).

Library

There is a library at the pool centre with books in English, Dutch, German and Danish. Please feel free to borrow or swap.
